WTN: Three New Ryme Whites...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Tue Oct 26, 2021 3:23 pm

Had these three over the last few days:
1. Ryme Semillon HeritageBlock MoonMtn AVA (13.4%) 2020: Light gold color; lovely very bright/Sem/figgy/waxy/green olive slight graham cracker/honey grahams bit floral/dandelions slight earthy/chalky quite fragrant (for a young Sem) nose; fairly tart rather stony/mineral classic Sem/figgy/waxy/green olive lightly floral/dandelions bit graham cracker fairly structured flavor; very long/lingering classic Sem/waxy/figgy/green olive some stony/mineral/chalky light floral/dandelions fairly tart/structured finish; lots of character for a young Sem & will surely put on weight; should really improve over the next 5-10 yrs; rather precocious for a young Sem. $42.00

2. Ryme Fiano BowlandVnyd/RRV/SonomaCnty (12.6%) Geyserville 2020: Med.light gold color; very attractive floral/Fiano/dandelions/pungent strong perfumed talc/bit chalky/earthy some rustic/SItalian very interesting nose; fairly tangy/tart some floral/dandelions/carnations/Fiano bit rustic/pungent slight metallic/perfumed talc fairly rich/lush rather interesting flavor; very long some tart/tangy/metallic some floral/dandelions some earthy/rustic/SItalian bit perfumed talc/stony rather interesting finish; a quite interesting if a bit rustic white that speaks strongly of Fiano; will probably put on weight & get a lot better w/ a few yrs of age; not the high-toned floral character of the Hers Vermentino. $35.00

3. Ryme Vermentino "His" LasBrisasVnyd/Carneros/SonomaCnty (12.4%) 2020: Med.gold color; fairly strong VinoMacerati/resiny/phenolic light floral/gardenias/Verm/spicy bit herbal lovely some complex nose; fairly tart/tangy lightly resiny/VM/phenolic some floral/Verm/gardenias flavor w/ light tannins; very long/lingering rather VM/resiny/phenolic some floral/Verm/gardenias some complex finish; not quite as strongly VM/phenolic/resiny & more Verm fruit than previous versions and not as austere & tannic as previous; will be much more interesting w/ 3-5 yrs of age. $34.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Another strong lineup out of Megan & Ryan Glaab. I generally like the "hers" Verm right out of the gate for its strong perfume. But the "His" typically ages into a very interesting wine.
