WTN: Castelli Nebbiolo Estate '16...(short/boring)

We tried Emilio's latest Nebb at Steve's last night before the Syrahs:
1. CastelliFamilyVnyds Nebbiolo Estate GreenVlly of RRV/SonomaCnty (DryFarmed; 75 cs; www.CastelliVineyards.com/) Emilio&Laura Castelli/Sebastopol 2016: Med.dark color; beautiful floral/lilacs/rose petal slight volatile some tarry/road tar/pungent light pencilly/oak classic Nebb quite complex wonderfully aromatic nose; quite tart/tangy rather rich for Nebb very strongvery perfumed/floral/lilacs/violets/rose petal slight earthy some tarry/pungent quite complex flavor w/ ample hard tannins; very long/lingering very strong Nebb/floral/lilacs/rose petal slight tarry/road tar/pungent somewhat rich rather complex finish w/ ample hard/chewey tannins; very classic & unique expression of Calif Nebb; one of his best and very fairly priced; blows away most Langhe Nebbs at that price point; should age quite well over the next 10 yrs. $34.00

1. I've always liked Emilio's Estate Nebb. Farmed by Fukuoka. It comes from two vnyds that he farms, one on his home property & another one a few miles away. His Nebb is always one of the highest regarded at our NEB get-togethers. This one struck as one of his best yet because of its powerful aromatics. It's nothing you would mistake for B/B. But right up there in quality. It has plenty of tannin (isn't that why we drink Nebb??), but a richness that makes those tannins not so hurtey. It resembles some Nebb from the Val d'Aosta, some a bit from the Valtelline... but a unique expression of Nebb.
When retasted this morning after being open overnight, some of the powerful aromatics had subsided & it seemed rather more hard/tannic.

Every once in a while I check his website to see if I can order some Nebbiolo. Every time he's sold out.
