Tried these two from the archives the other night:
1. Novy Syrah ChristensenFamilyVnyd/RRV (15.4%) SantaRosa 2003: Dark color w/ some bricking; strong vanilla/Siduri oak fairly strong blackberry/Syrah/spicy/bit licorice/pungent/graphite some complex nose; soft bit ripe/alcoholic strong blackberry/Syrah/spicy rather pencilly/vanilla/Siduri oak fairly complex flavor w/ light gentle tannins; very long fairly vanilla/pencilly/Siduri oak rather blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry/bit licorice some complex finish w/ light smooth tannins; losing some Syrah intensity but not at all tired or drying out; a delicate old lady at the nursing home fading away into the sunset and will just someday wink out; tastes like a Syrah made by a Siduri Pinot producer.

2. Novy Syrah Susan'sVnyd/SantaLuciaHighlands (15.2%) 2004: Very dark color w/ some bricking; very strong blackberry/Syrah/spicy bit herbal/citrusy/SLH Syrah some toasty/Siduri oak slight metallic/graphite/pungent fairly complex nose; lightly tart strong blackberry/boysenberry/ripe Syrah bit herbal/citric some pencilly/Siduri oak bit hot/alcoholic some complex flavor w/ light gentle tannins; very long/lingering strong blackberry/boysenberry/ripe/Syrah bit herbal/citric/SLH Syrah some pencilly/Siduri oak fairly complex finish; fully mature & still has plenty of fruit; tannins fully resolved & lost a bit of intensity; another one to just quietly fade into the sunset but still offerrs up a lot of pleasure.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. We used to by a ton of Siduri/Novy wines. They used to send out a monthly newsletter with some pretty good discounts on the wines. When Adam sold Siduri/Novy to KendallJackson, I sorta lost interest in the wines. They changed their marketing & no longer sent out monthly deals. But the Novy Syrahs/Zins were always our favorites..very good/well-made wines at very fair prices. As best I can tell, K-J/Siduri no longer makes the Novy wines. Not sure what the story is there. I haven't tasted any of the recent Siduri Pinots in quite a number of yrs.
