Not about wine ...

I'm just doing a little forum maintenance.

I guess it could be about wine, though. Who's drinking something good?

I'm drinking 2018 Halcon Vineyards Oppenlander Vineyard Pinot Noir, Mendocino County, Robin, and am transported back to my early days in wine, back in the early '70s, drinking Burgundy for the first time. This is what I have always thought Pinot Noir here in California ought to taste like.

+1 on the thanks, Robin. Here's what I'm enjoying at a slow pace:

2011 Kingston Family Vineyards Pinot Noir Alazan
Pinot Noir, Casablanca Valley, Chile

TN Excerpt:
Aromas are mix of red fruit and earth: cranberry, raspberry, red currant, cherry, black cherry, forest floor, mushroom. A bit of garrigue. On the palate, intensity equals aromas. Medium body, smooth and silky texture. Medium + finish, Medium + acidity. The acidity = staying power over 3 nights. Wine has settled beautifully. Drawback was an old cork, resulting in complicated opening and a few crumbles in the wine. A good example of well-aged PN and how balanced and complex the Chilean Casablanca Valley PNs can be. Drink now; stand that bottle up and approach cork with caution.

This is our last bottle from a case ordered in 2015. Other varietals included Sauv Blanc and Syrah. The Alazan is their upper-tier PN. For us, Chile = value. Many wines to be had for <$10 that drink well above that price point. I'm biased. YMMV.
