WTN: Ridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Lockdown Wine #113. Very dark. Initially, plums and roasted meat. Strong tannins and acidity straight from the bottle. 30 minutes in the glass and the harshness dissipates. After an hour, sweet, ripe, red and black fruit become dominant. Coffee notes as well. Roast meat sill there. Tannins still a bit strong. Medium+ weight. Good length. Freshness provided by a gentle acidity in the background. Excellent now with an hour decant. Should be perfect in about 2 years.

77% Cabernet, 19% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc.

Wow that's young for the wine. Yeah, it's not Monte Bello, but still.

This was undrinkable about 2 to 3 years ago. Nothing but tannin. At the time I thought leave it for 5 years, at least. But curiosity got the better of me today. Still have a couple of bottles more, so good to see where it is now.

I have two magnums of this. Nice to read about, thanks.
