Awful with fish

by Peter May » Wed Aug 11, 2021 10:17 am

On the back label of a Grenache-Syrah Blend

Great with pretty much everything… except fish.
It’s awful with fish.

Made me laugh anyway…

An all-too-rare example of honesty in back-label blurbiage!

Peter, please name names!

I'd buy a bottle for their honesty.

Was the wine any good?

James Bond would approve. And I second Jim's request, what's the name of the wine?

Didn't James Bond write a wine review where he said, "At the first sip, I was shaken, not stirred."

2017 Lâchez-Vous Grenache - Syrah (France)

This is a Vin de France because it has taken advantage of the change in French regulations allowing grapes to be sourced from anywhere in France - to compete with similarly widely sourced wines in the new world. The name Lachez Voux means (according to the back label) ‘cut loose’ and the front label depicts a worker cutting through bureaucratic red tape.

The wine was enjoyable and very inexpensive. We had it with ratatouille
