Double decanted a 375ml 24 hours in advance to avoid mid-life closed in syndrome. After letting it warm up from cellar temp it’s ripe Saskatoon berry with spice, a little bit of popcorn, and sun-drenched earth. Balanced fruit and structure (somewhat drying on the finish, but not out of proportion for being so young), a finishing dose of leathery funk, and it’s all Geyserville. Just so darned good.

Another bottle, just as good.

Pretty much typical Geyserville, with ripe berry fruit and dusty, warm herbs. Every sip just makes me want another. It does have notable tannic structure, so with the ample fruit it can certainly evolve for many more years. I just have a hard time keeping my hands off of my stash of half bottles.

That makes sense, then. I get it in Zinfandel all the time.
