- 2015 Franz Hirtzberger Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Rotes Tor - Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau (8/3/2021)
Classically Wachau Grüner Veltliner with all the white pepper, cress and inner density I expect from a top bottling. The weight seemed even more than expected, but never verged into heaviness. On the finish here was a distinct element of mint that added freshness. Lovely to drink before, during and after the meal.
