by TomHill » Tue Aug 03, 2021 1:05 pm

Tried these two Carlisle Syrahs the other night:
1. Carlisle Syrah Papa'sBlock/Atoosa'sVnyd/RRV (15.1%; 215 cs) 2008: Very dark color w/ slight bricking; beautiful very strong blackberry/Syrah rather cold-climate/black pepper some toasty/smokey/Fr.oak some pungent/graphite/ozone rather smokey/Rhonish/roasted fairly complex nose; lightly tart/tangy intense blackberry/spicy/Syrah/boysenberry bit c-c/black pepper some toasty/Fr.oak bit Rhonish/graphite/roasted fairly complex flavor w/ modest drying tannins; very long/lingering intense blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah/c-c peppery some graphite/roasted/Rhonish finish w/ light drying tannins; a beautiful classic example of RRV Syrah w/ lots of c-c/peppery character & some Rhonish character; pretty much at its peak or a bit beyond.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I was expecting both of the to show a little tired. They were not. Both pretty much at their peak or slightly beyond. Both classicc examples of RRV or SLH Syrahs. Mightly good Syrahs.
