Frappato wine

The WSJ had a big and positive note on this Sicilian wine over the weekend. I never heard of it …. Any thoughts here?

Should be plenty of notes in search. Part of the Cerasuolo di Vittoria blend. On its own,I've enjoyed Ochinpinti, Defino. COS. light bodied, but with good persistence of flavor.

Agree that COS and Occhipinti versions are good - light bodied, fruity, fragrant and vibrant, which is I think how wines of that grape should be. But I tried a much cheaper supermarket-brand one recently, made by what looked like a co-op, which was not nearly as pleasant.

I think is has been regarded as the lesser grape in in Cerasuolo di Vittoria, compared with Nero d'Avola which provides more body, and (I am told) ageability. But I am not convinced.

I do like Cos but if you want the home run with that grape, Occhipinti by a mile.
