- 2017 Ramey Chardonnay Rochioli Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley (7/20/2021)
Cold crab salad for dinner on a hot summer evening, so I wanted a Chardonnay with more direct citrus, and ample acidity. This delivered on both accounts. First pour as I was prepping dinner was actually a little bit mouth-puckering, but an hour later when dinner was ready to go the wine was open, and ready to pair with the shellfish and citrus elements of the salad. Not as opulent or spicy as Ramey Hyde, this stayed on the lean, citrusy side of the spectrum, partnering with the food and playing counterpoint to the sultry early evening. So good.
