2. 1. I have, of course, followed the Turley wines from the very start, when they were being made by HelenTurley, when they were first shown at a ZAP tasting. Shortly thereafter, they were discovered by a certain Monktown attourney, who went ape-$hit over them because of their high alcohol levels, extract, and Fr.oak levels. This established the early reputation of the Turley style. Since then, under Ehren Jordan & now Tegan Pasalaqua, that style has been reined in. They are not so nearly monolithic and reflect much more their vnyd origins. Yet they still have a reputation for an over-the-top style of wine, undeservedly so. But they are no longer the hot commodity they once were and are now fairly available.
That said, the Turley wines no longer seem to float my boat. This '19 PS I liked well enough, but just that. It just didn't really have a lot to say to me. For my Zinfandel itch, I'm perfectly happy with Carlisle/Ridge/Bedrock/DryCreekVnyds. So I doubt I'll order any Turleys again. It's been a good run, but it's time to move on.

I used to really like Turley PS. I still enjoy some of the Zins, but have moved away from the Petites.

Bought the 2017 PS, Napa Valley, after tasting at the Paso facility (2019). We love the grape and thought this was a very solid effort. Planned for opening in a few years.

First Turley ever received was a Dogtown Zinfandel from sister-in-law. Years ago. Christmas gift. I was enough of a geek back then to be very very happy to receive that bottle.

Our other purchase, in 2019, was a Paper Street Zin, 2017. Grown at 2000 ft elevation vs 600-800 ft Dusi vineyard. Could taste the difference.

Turley is a splurge for us, but can be worth it. Tried before we bought....

Deep Red Cheers!
