WTN: Curses the soul of the Mississippi Queen

  • 2018 Ridge Evangelho - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Contra Costa County (6/25/2021)
Yes, this is clearly a Ridge wine. That said, after a brief interlude it becomes all Evangelho. The sappy, soul of the deep fruit that always characterizes the vineyard shines through and stakes its place. I have said it in the past, but it bears repeating, Evangelho has a life force. Grape blend doesn’t matter. Producer doesn’t matter. Terroir wins out unless Wile E. Coyote drops an ACME anvil on the fruit.

You have really raised the bar on this vineyard. It's a name I've long been aware of, and I've even owned wines made from it but only a few with miles in between. Next time I drink an Evangelho, I'll pay a lot more attention.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
