WTN: Two w/ DinDin...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Thu Jun 24, 2021 1:33 pm

Tried these two last night w/ my braised Radicchio:
1. Ryme Vermentino LasBrisasVnyd/Carneros/SonomaCnty ("His"; 12.4%; www.RymeCellars.com) 2017: Med.dark gold/burnished bronze color; rather strong honeyed/orangey/honey grahams some phenolic/resiny/ViniMacerati slight floral/Verm rather complex very interesting beautiful nose; lightly tart quite honeyed/honey grahams/graham crackers/orangey some modest/VM/phenolic/resiny/skin -contact fairly rich/lush complex flavor w/ light tannins; very long/lingering lightly tart/tannic fairly rich/lush strong honey grahams/graham cracker/orangey modest VM/phenolic fairly complex finish w/ light tannic bite; starting to develop into a really interesting VM & will go out another 5-10 yrs.
______________
2. Turley Zin OldVines Calif (15.1%) 2005: Med.color w/ some browning; rather cedary/pencilly/oldZin light blackberry/raspberry/Zin/slightly spicy some toasty/Fr.oak bit complex nose;soft some rich/lush quite cedary/pencilly/oldZin slight raspberry/spicy/Zin some toasty/Fr.oak flavor w/ light astringent tannins; very lonf cedary/pencilly/oldZin slight raspberry/Zin bit alcoholic finish w/ light drying tannins; still hanging in there but on the tired/oldZin drying out side & headed downhill. $21.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. His: This is starting to develop into a really interesting expression of a mature VM, much sooner than I expected. It's lost a lot of its early austere/tannic/phenolic character and develoing a lot of that honeyed mature VM character. Should continue to evolve into a more interesting wine.

The Turley is 100% zin? No little mixed-black interlopers?

Don't know, David. Probably some other stuff in there.
