I like that John Lockwood is always experimenting. This blend of Grenache, Tempranillo and Carignan is the latest. It’s sunny and fruity up front, and has some sneaky tannins on the back end. The finish is vibrant, and keeps pulling me back to capture the lingering fruit/spice echo. Where I expected something more in the “quaffer” range, this is instead a more substantial, but still clearly California interpretation of a southern Spanish blend.
