Cracked this last night w/ our grilled sausages:
1. DryCreekVnyd PetiteSirah Estate/Spencer'sHillVnyd/DryCreekVlly/SonomaCnty (100% PS; 13.9%; 16 mo. in Fr./Am. oak; 708 cs) Healdsburg 2018: Very dark/near black color; strong Am.oak/vanilla very strong blackberry/PS/some peppery/plummy bit licorice bit dusty/OV slight Zin-like/high-toned lovely DryCreekVlly/spicy nose; lightly tart/tangy fairly strong vanilla/Am.oak/bit pencilly strong blackberry/PS/peppery/licorice/plummy bit earthy/dusty/OV bit complex flavor w/ modest bitey tannins; very long/lingering strong blackberry/PS/peppery/licorice some Am.oak/vanilla/pencilly fairly structured finish w/ some bitey/chewey tannins; quite high-toned for PS & avoids the oafish/clunky side of that variety; this is how they would make PS in the DryCreekVlly if they could; an almost Zin-like expression of PS; a lovely PS that needs 3-8 yrs of age. $40.00 (VSP)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I was quite impressed by this latest DCV PS. It has more acidity than most PS & a high-toned character that almost speaks of Zin; the best DCV PS yet.
