Lockdown Wine # 101. This wine deserved the Riedel Sommelier Sauternes glasses. Deep, deep copper. Caramel, toffee, tobacco and tea leaf. Nectar sweet. Candied tropical fruit - orange rind, pineapple, dried mango. Mint. Christmas pudding. Lots going on, but beautifully balanced by the acidity. Not cloying at all. Because it is so well balanced, a pretty easy drink. Impressive length. Finishes with a slight burnt sugar and honey bitterness which is also rather refreshing.

Enjoyed it with some strawberries, and it did very well against a Sacher torte as well. Outstanding!
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Mmmmmm!!!! In Hungary we acquired the habit of ordering Tokajis as afternoon aperitifs along the Danube. Your note took me back.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
