Lockdown Wine #99. Extra Brut from Cotes de Bar. White gold. Rather floral at first, then lemon rind. A little peppery, steel, citrus rind. Much better if taken at close to white wine temp rather than cooler. More expressive that way. Gets too austere if taken too cold. Medium weight. Very refreshing in the summer heat. A fine match for tonight's yakitori. A hint of a woody note at the finish. Not a profound wine by any means, but does the job nicely.

Bravo to you for keeping track of the number. Although I assume you are using that word 'lockdown' loosely and have some more freedoms now as opposed to spring 2020?

Anything special planned for wine #100?

While that's true, we are technically still on lockdown here, and, as in many places around the world, the government has had to go back to very strict protocols from time to time - the latest being in April. I don't know how long I'll keep up the count, but I don't really see any substantial improvement for the foreseeable future.

I haven't really given any thought for wine 100! I'm the only drinker at home and I don't go out with friends while this is ongoing, so I'm not sure it'll be worth opening something really special. We shall see...
