This is so weird. Two botttles of Stoller 2012 Pinot this week, one reserve, one not. Results? Entirely opposite of what you'd expect.
2012 Stoller Pinot Noir Reserve Dundee Hills
Having loved my way thru a 6-pack of the regular '12s wherein every bottle was richer and more astonishing than the last, especially for the mere $25 ea I paid, was surprised by this Reserve last night. Expecting everything I loved about the regular plus more, I instead got less of everything except acidity of which it had too much (another surprise, considering the vintage). 2nd night leftovers: no improvement. Eh.
So yesterday by chance I physically discovered I still had one more of the '12 regular, which I had thought long gone, and opened that. I'm not drinking this week but Bob is suffering an ailment that is causing dreadful itching and no way he'd sleep if I didn't give him a little something, so:

This week we had a fading, high acid and very disappointing '12 Stoller Reserve, and yet here's the regular all perfect and wonderful with impressively youthful color and body for a nine year old $25 pinot that has all the signs of maturing wonderfully from here. Crazy.
