  • 2018 Domaine Bernard Baudry Chinon Les Grézeaux - France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon (5/19/2021)
As expected for a 2018, this was ripe but not to the point of being unrecognizable as Baudry Chinon. The fruit was a little darker and richer, but never into jammy or soupy. The green element was in the pine needle range rather than the typical green bell pepper. There was plenty of tannic and acidic structure to balance the fruit, and even as the wine warmed towards our 73 degrees room temp the 13.5% ABV did not protrude.

I would not want this wine any riper, but I definitely like it as is. Looking forward to following it over several years.

I had a 2009 at about ten years of age that I'd expect your '18s to turn out like. Very fine, even if atypically big.
