Really bad at describing wines

With wines other than Bordeaux blends (including U.S. Cabs) I do not bother scoring the wines (even 0-4 now). My wife and I just decide if we like the wine and determine whether or not the price seems reasonable.

That sounds like a good approach for all wines.

Scoring obviously works for you, Richard. No problem with that as long as you recognize that most of us find no value in it--or at least we don't once the wine's in our cellar. After that, there are only bad, good and great bottles as they amble through their lifetimes.
