- 2001 Von Hövel Scharzhofberger Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (5/11/2021)
Heh...looking at notes on CT, and seeing "well past its prime" from almost ten years ago makes me chuckle. This wine is just starting to mature. It's not a thoroughbred racehorse, but it's a very fine Riesling that is displaying developing mature flavors, and fantastic back-end persistence. The most exciting thing about this wine is the haunting finish. It lingers like an unwelcome house guest, but you're actually happy it's there! "Expired! Expired! Expired!" No! No! No!
