Ridge 59% Syrah/27% Grenache/14% Mataro LyttonEstateVnyd/DryCreekVlly/SonomaCnty (13.8%; 59 brls; bttld April 2020; 15 mo. in Am.oak; Drk: 3/20-3/27-3/28: JO; tartaric acid) 2018: Very dark/near black color; very strong blackberry/Syrah/strawberry/Grenache/bit plummy light earthy/dusty light vanilla/Ridge oak slight roasted/Rhonish classic RidgeRed lovely nose; lightly tart/tangy strong vanilla/Ridge oak strong blackberry/Syrah/Grenache/strawberry/plummy bit earthy/dusty bit complex flavor w/ modest chewey tannins; very long bit tart/tangy some Am.oak/vanilla strong blackberry/Syrah/strawberry bit earthy/dusty bit Rhonish/smokey finish w/ ample rough tannins; one of the best young Ridge Rhones I can recall having; needs 2-5 yrs of age yet. $34.20 (ATP)

1. I've been impressed w/ many of the recent Ridge reds. They seem less dominated by Ridge winemaking style and show more terroir & varietal fruit. This is one of the better young Ridge Rhones I can recall having.
