2006 M. Chapoutier Crozes-Ermitage Les Varonniers Crozes-Hermitage Syrah
A more advanced bottle in early February made me think I had to rush my last two bottles, but this one suggests otherwise. This was a very fine bottle with red and black raspberry fruit, rare beef, sweet roasted fennel, and a lot of sage-y garrique on the finish. Everything you could want, really.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

A producer I have remained steadfastly ambivalent about...

Generally I'm definitely not a fan, but this sounds good. You never know! :)

I took a bottle of this one to one of Bill's blind-tasting lunches years ago, and it was mistaken by that very experienced group for an Hermitage. I can't imagine either of you being disappointed in it.
