Wanted a "white" last night, so cracked this btl:
1. CowanCllrs RibollaGialla RRV (11.7%; www.CowanCellars.com) 2012: Deep golden/burnished bronze color; some phenolic/resiny/ViniMacerati bit herbal/white pepper/RG some orangey/honeyed/honeycomb slight smokey/forest floor/woodsy/graham cracker quite complex lovely nose; bit soft some phenolic/resiny/VM quite honeyed/honeycomb/graham cracker bit woodsy/forest floor/herbal/Kansas haymow smooth/round very complex flavor w/ very light tannic bite; soft very long/lingering bit rich/lush light phenolic/VM/resiny slight RG/white pepper rather honeyed/honeycomb/orangey/graham cracker/honey grahm slight earthy/herbal rather smooth/textured very savory quite complex finish w/ slight tannic bite; this wine has shed all the hard/tannic character of its youth & turned into a beautiful example of a mature VM; no signs of oxidation whatsoever.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. FloridaJim has played around with skin-contact whites/VM over the yrs. Like many of the VM, they can be not very pleasant drinking in their youth because of their tannic/austere character. But this one at 9 yrs of age, has matured into a very classic example of mature VM. Reminds me some of the mature SandiSkerk and Kabaj VMs I've had. I have no idea how long this wine will go on. Have the '10 SauvBlanc on tap this weekend.
But great job here, Florida Jim.
