Last Friday, Greg O'Byrne held a Zoom tasting w/ JoelPeterson/O&F and Morgan Twain-Peterson/Bedrock at CHOMP, the new SantaFe food hall. In addition to some of the wines we tried on Wed at Pig+Fig, we tried:
1. Bedrock Carignane SonomaCnty 2019: Med.dark color; rather earthy/rustic/dusty/OV some black cherry/Cariginan/cherry bit oafish/clunky not very high-toned nose; fairly tart/tangy rather earthy/rustic some dusty/OV bit hard/angular black cherry/Carignane light toasty/oak flavor w/ modest rough tannins; long fairly strong cherry/black cherry/Carignane rather earthy/dusty/OV rustic light toasty/oak finish w/ some hard/chewey tannins; a rather rough/rustic/earthy Carignane; not as high-toned/bright as the Ridge Buchignani Carignane. $32.00
____________
2. Once&Future Mataro OakleyRd 2018: Very dark color; strong plummy/Mourv/blackberry some ContraCosta/mushroomy/loamy fairly dusty/OV some toasty/oak nose; soft fairly rich/lush rather CC/loamy/mushroomy strong plummy/Mourv/bit blackberry some toasty/oak flavor w/ light soft tannins; very long strong plummy/Mourv/blackberry strong CC/earthy/loamy finish w/ light ripe tannins; a classic CC Mourv w/ lots of earthy/loamy character. $40.00
____________
3. Bedrock Grenache Gambrels of the Sky (ScealesVnyd/AlexVlly + GibsonRanch/MendoCnty + Evalgelho Mataro; 33% whole cluster) 2018: Med.dark color; strong blackberry/strawberry/boysenberry/ripe/Grenache somewhat Rhonish not that bright/fruity some OV/dusty very attractive nose; soft somewhat rich/lush strong strawberry/blackberry/Grenache light toast bit dusty/OV bit complex/Rhonish flavor w/ modest brisk tannins; very long strong strawberry/Grenache/blackberry/ripe light toasty/oak slight rhonish/rustic finish w/ light sharp tannins; not as fruity/bright as most Calif Grenaches but fairly complex/interesting Grenache. $42.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. We also tasted the Bedrock and O&F OldHill Zin '18's. They performed pretty much as they showed on Wed; two outstanding OV Zins.
