Does anyone drink Mosel etc. anymore ?

by Richard L » Mon Apr 19, 2021 10:32 pm

Years ago my wife and I drank Mosel-Saar-Ruwer wines fairly often. Back then I ranked wines on a 1-4 scale, and there was only one wine to which I gave a 4+. I believe it was a 1971 Auslese, and it was theoretically a step down from wines such as Wehlener Sonnenuhr. I kept a note of what it was for quite a time, but unfortunately it seemingly was lost when we moved in 1988. It might have been a Brauneberger Juffer or something of that sort. I had not intended to post about it but memories of were awakened (to some extent) by some of the posts here, Let me know if you want me to stop postings such as this. Richard L

I drink a lot of German Riesling. Most from the Mosel, but also Nahe, Rheingau, etc.

Wehlener Sonnenuhr is still in the top rank, though climate change has altered the wines. They are often quite rich, and there has not been a truly poor vintage in over 20 years.
