2009 Domaine Jean Royer Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Prestige Red Rhone Blend
At perfect maturity. Mauve-ish garnet color, soft plums, tomato, leather and thyme. Long, velvety finish. Excellent.

Nice. I bought a few Royer wines from 2014. All but the Classique were so overblown I poured them down the sink.

Too bad. This isn't a producer I follow, I somehow happened to have this pair of '09s and this is the first one I opened. We were very pleased with it--took it to a friend's home for dinner, and it was the WOTN.
