Savored over the course of three nights, this is a precise, focused wine that takes me back to a vintage like 1998, when the pradikat scale wasn’t completely warped by climate change. That said, this still feels like a Spätlese to me, just a classical, still easy to drink Spätlese. The richness of the fruit is counterbalanced by more than adequate acidity, and even a little skin bitterness that keeps things fresh. Balance is spot on, so long aging should be possible. It’s not necessary to cellar it, as it’s pretty easy to blow through a bottle now, but there could be a really interesting result if one was patient enough to sit on a few bottles for 15 or 20 years.
