WTN: 2005 Westerly Sav Blancs (Westerly & Ojai)

by Jason Hagen » Sat Feb 17, 2007 3:15 pm

Had these together.

2005 Westerly Sauvignon Blanc Estate
The nose is so lively. Sour apple and tropical fruits jumping out of the glass. The palate follows. There is lots of fruit here. The acids are really clean and pleasant as well. Not an intellectual Sav Blanc but great stuff. It just shows itself right out of the bottle.

2005 Ojai Sauvignon Blanc Westerly Vineyard
This wine had a much more muted nose. Less fruit driven. More mineral elements. More silky texture. I just left my glass because the wine clearly needs some time. Later in the evening the wine was more expressive. Wait at least a year on this one. Nice contrast to the Westerly/Westerly.

Cheers,

Jason
