2016 Pian dell'Orino Rosso di Montalcino - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino (3/21/2021)
Very easy to like - it's open from the get go, but develops more over an hour or two. Lots of ripe red fruit, but nothing overripe/sloppy. Good acidity, and a measured dose of tannin in the finish. Not the most complex wine right now, but it has the balance and substance to improve over several years. I do get a little wistful, when I think about what it used to cost. It's not a value proposition anymore, but it's still a very fine wine that is well worth buying.
