2016 Pian dell'Orino Rosso di Montalcino - Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Rosso di Montalcino (3/21/2021)
Very easy to like - it's open from the get go, but develops more over an hour or two. Lots of ripe red fruit, but nothing overripe/sloppy. Good acidity, and a measured dose of tannin in the finish. Not the most complex wine right now, but it has the balance and substance to improve over several years. I do get a little wistful, when I think about what it used to cost. It's not a value proposition anymore, but it's still a very fine wine that is well worth buying.

Is it double the price of equivalent quality Chinati? Yes. Is it objectively better wine? No. Is it still a delicious drink that is too easy and fun? Yes!

Not sure I can justify continuing to buy this at the price point (now that I am a retired senior, living on a fixed income), but glad to have it.
