Question about Lafarge Volnay

by Håvard Flatland » Sat Feb 17, 2007 4:54 am

I was thinking of opening a Lafarge Volnay 2001 today. Is it drinkable at this moment? How long decant time?

2001 wasn't the easiest vintage in Volnay, there was lots of hail damage. I personally thought Lafarge did better than most. I don't have the regular village, but I do have the Vendanges Selectionees (also village level), and plan on drinking within next couple years. I'd expect a little more tannins and acid than the norm; personally I'd try to open an hour or so before dinner, and watch it progress. Please report!

The 1999 is still closed; I think I'd wait.
