2019 Weingut Max Ferd. Richter Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (3/15/2021)
Tasting this over the course of two evenings, as the 2019 Himmelreich Kabinett from Richter came together quite well on night two. This Juffer Kabinett had its act together from the get go. Focused citrus and peach pit fruit, anchored by lively acidity, it refreshed and satisfied from the first sip out of the freshly opened bottle last evening. Today it reprises its performance, and the depth of flavor shows from beginning to end. There's a bit of chalky grip on the finish, so there's no reason to be drinking this all up while it's young. There will be significant development, a rounding of the slightly jagged edges of sweetness, an emergence of more aromatic and flavor complexity, and I would suspect a bit of creaminess added to the texture with 10 or 15 years of age. All the right pieces are in all the right places for a long ride with this bottling.
