2006 Avondale Chenin Blanc (Paarl, South Africa) Imp: Wild Grape. 13.5%abv. Screwtop. Yummy warm weather chenin. Lots of mango and tropical fruit on the front end, rich, waxy palate, some residual sugar, and cleansing grapefruit acidity on the finish. Good balance. Thanks, Jake!
Is Jake selling it in Boston? I wonder where he is selling it locally. I guess it's time to drop him a line. Nice notes Bill. I need to look for this grape outside of Vouvray.
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows That too many people have died? The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind The answer is blowin' in the wind.
I havent seen this particular wine on the shelves here yet, James, but I know Jake sells through a local distributor. This bottle ended up in my carton after we had all too many drinks with him the other night.
The distributors for these states(easier and more reliable than retailer data, and we love getting into new retailers!):
DC and Virginia: Roanoke Valley Wine Company, 540-992-5001
Maryland (not Montgomery County): Noble Vintners, 888-662-5307
Massachusetts: Oz-Pacific Wines, (978) 686-5262
Other distribution is on our website.

I may have a surprise here regarding CB!! At tonights everyday food tasting, "junk" some may call it, the amazing wine food matchup was the `04 Rudera CB with fish`n chips. I never expected this at all, will be posting tomorrow with some thoughts from Mike B who was also at the tasting!!
Another winner was Chiroubles with deep fried chicken wings!

The new-woody Rudera? Can't say I'm a huge fan. There is a real dearth of old-wood-made chenin in SA (which is too bad, both as a benchmark for the variety against the Loire and because, well, old wood-made chenin tastes good), but the local market (read: Jo'burg bankers) loves dark-yellow, new woody chenin. I don't get it.
