2007 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley
Though a one-hour decant brought it back from the dead it's still quite advanced in the aging process. Purple black color with musty blackberry fruit, anise, soy sauce and tar. Texturally dense with very few tannins, and more alive with meatballs in red sauce than without. A fun bottle to drink, but not what I hope for from aged new world cabernet.

I still have some half bottles. Time to check in.

Hmmm. I drank some KL wines from late 90s. But I thought the winery closed many years ago, but see 2018 Cabs on CT.

Dale, the winery did close. For a few years there was news of it being revived; not sure if either of the original winemaker-owners are involved though.

Oh, and to Dave: my report was a tad more glum than most recent reports on CT.

Just looked into the new Karl Lawrence. Same label, but that's all that's the same. New owner, new winemaker, new vineyard source(s).

That was my recollection of what was going on. Thanks for confirming Jenise.

Drinking a half bottle of the 2006 tonight, and it’s lovely. Still plenty of ripe red fruit, tannins are in balance. Very enjoyable.

Great news, Dave. And impressive for a half from '06, a year a lot of people don't expect much from. I think I've got one more '10 left--a Herb Lamb.
