2014 Idlewild Nebbiolo Fox Hill Vineyard - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (3/3/2021)
Close to a year since my last bottle, and this is riding high. It's all grace and guts, with pretty rose petal, sour cherry and pomegranate aromas, backed up by a mid-weight palate that clenches down on the finish because it has to, since it's Nebbiolo. After a couple of hours open there mint and pipe tobacco notes, and the finish extends past the tannins. This feels all the world like a Carema wine, and has the balance to go for a good long while. I'll keep checking in though. It's hard to resist.
