WTN: Jadot Corton Grand Cru 2005

by Jay Labrador » Wed Mar 03, 2021 9:35 am

Lockdown Wine # 84. Brick edge. Nice nose - red berries, creamy milk chocolate, but a bit hot.

Palate is red berries again married to a bright acidity which needs food to tone it down. Pretty good with duck confit. Slightly green/rustic at the finish. Decent length.

Although not particularly interesting, it went really well with the food and as a consequence, I had no trouble finishing half a bottle. The rest to be consumed over the next week. Very good (with food) and probably as good as it'll get.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Ah Corton - takes forever to get interesting. I bought a few 2005 Jadot Corton Pougets, and promptly buried them deep in the cellar. Between the slow aging of Jadot and the slow aging of Corton I will be lucky to live long enough.

Don't forget the additional variable of the slow aging of 2005!

David, shouldn't that read, "Between the slow aging of Jadot and the slow aging of Corton AND the glacial pace of my subterranean cellar I will be lucky to live long enough."

I have not run into that in any notable way. I would pull some bottles, but then the slow aging of 2005s...
