WTN: Ridge Zin WildCattleCreek '18...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Sat Feb 27, 2021 1:03 pm

My Ridge ATP arrived ystrday, so I cracked:
1. Ridge Zin WildCattleCreek/DryCreekVlly/SonomaCnty (85% Zin/10% Carignane/5% PetiteSirah; 14.7%; 20 brls; bttld April 2020; Drk: 3/20-3/25-3/26: JO; tartaric acid) 2018: Fairly dark color; strong vanilla/Am.oak/Ridge oak strong blackberry/Zin/spicy/bit raspberry bit dusty/earthy quite attractive nose; fairly tart/tangy strong blackberry/raspberry/DCV Zin/lightly spicy strong vanilla/Ridge oak light earthy flavor w/ modest tangy tannins; very long some blackberry/DCV Zin/raspberry strong Am.oak/vanilla bit dusty finish w/ light tangy tannins; needs a few yrs yet; reminds a lot of the EastBench/Ponzo/Manzoni Zins; a pleasant enough distinctly Ridge Zin but not particularly distinctive or intense; just another classic Ridge Zin but not very distinctive from the other Ridges. $37.00 (ATP)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This WildCattleCreek Zin is, I believe, the first release of this vnyd-designate. The vnyd was planted in '98 by JohnOlney, LS winemaker, on his property. I would guess these grapes have been going in the past into the 3Vllys Zin.
