2008 Tenuta Monteti Toscana IGT
Note based on 3 days of tasting. We were concerned that this wine would throw sediment as it's apparently unfined & unfiltered. So stood it up for one week. Using a flashlight, didn't see much if any sediment. So we opened. This wine inspired lots of note-taking. Then again, we are big fans of Italian vino. Excerpts:
Layered colors: brick to purple to garnet to a very watery pink. Rim variation consistent with age. Medium + legs. Aromas are dark fruit forward: blackberry, black currant, no blueberry. Hints of prune but not jammy. Hints of dust, cedar, barnyard but varied by day. Over time in the glass, on the palate, similar to aromas but cola, cocoa, musk are also there. These also varied day by day, keeping it interesting. Medium/full body, medium acidity. Medium to medium + finish. Smooth, polished, settled texture. Good choice of blend. Given the evolution, balanced and complex. Drink now.
