Boy, there's some dubious history in that article.

All the evidence points to the South Caucasus as the origin of winemaking. And it spread from there.

And in the "oldest known winery", there is no chance of being able to identify the grape variety. In fact there is not even 100% conclusive evidence of grapes being used, but the accumulated circumstantial evidence is strong.

And barrels are a relatively recent invention.
