2012 Goodfellow Family Cellars Pinot Noir Whistling Ridge Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge (2/17/2021)
Step one, please decant this. I did not, and had to pour the wine back and forth a couple of times between two glasses to make up for it. Once I did that the veil pulled away, and the earth emerged. Much like an older Goodfellow (actually labeled Matello) Pinot I had several weeks ago, this showed a leafy, loamy character, but this time with more brightness, more cut. I would expect that a few more years in the cellar (or better planning on my part) would reveal the same depth of character as that 2010. That said, the freshness, and crisp fruit of this wine, combined with the emerging sous bois character is very enticing.
