WTN: Castelli May Blush Dry Rose Wine NV...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Feb 08, 2021 5:40 pm

Tried this last week w/ Susan:
1. Castelli May Blush Dry Rose Wine GreenVlly of RRV/SonomaCnty (12.5%) NV (2020): Light rose bit orange/cranberry rather cloudy color w/ lots of bubbles when poured; fairly strong cranberry/spicy/watermelon light earthy fairly fragrant nose; quite fizzy/prickly fairly tart rather cranberry/watermelon/rose petal bit earthy fresh/refreshing flavor w/ light tannic bite; long strong cranberry/strawberry/rose petal bit earthy quite prickly finish w/ light tannic bite; quite a nice attractive/zippy example of a pet-nat. $nc (SCvEC)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. When my last order of 2 cases of Emilio's Nebbiolo arrived a month or so ago, there was a 2-btl box as well, this wine as a gift for Susan. But none for ole TomHill, his best customer. This last crush in 2020, his daughter Maria, who works at VintageBerkeley, was helping Emilio w/ the crush. She prevailed upon him to make a tiny bit of a pet-nat...presumably from Nebbiolo. This was that wine...made only for personal consumption. It's a pretty example of a pet-nat. But don't look for it on his mailing list.

I was hoping to order some of his Nebbiolo, but he was sold out.

Yup, David...he sold out pretty fast. Doesn't make a whole lot. His last one is a good one.
