WTN: Ridge Lytton Springs 2017

Lockdown Wine #82. This showed up just before lunch and I figured it would be good with the burger I was having so why not?

Lovely nose. Lots of black cherry, plum, and assorted black berries. Sweet spices. A little hot (14.8% alcohol) but didn't find it too distracting. Rich, dark chocolate, and espresso flavors. Saturated with the dark fruits. Alcohol doesn't show at all on the palate. Dry-ish despite all the fruit action going on. A touch of acid at the end to keep it fresh. Rather soft and good to go, but has the stuffing to last. Delicious wine! 74% Zinfandel, 15% Petite Sirah, 9% Carignane, 2% Mataro.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Super!

I have a personal debate each vintage whether I prefer Lytton Springs or Geyserville. In 2017 it's Lytton. 2015 and 2016 it's Geyserville. 2018 TBD!

I'm just happy that someone is finally importing Ridge here. Next up is the 2017 Petite Sirah. I'll probably leave the 2016 Estate Cabernet alone for a few more years.
