Envínate Benje Blanco 2018 - DO Ycoden-Daute-Isora; 100% Palomino; 12,5% abv; c.23€
I recently tried a red from Envínate and it was lovely. Time to try their white. Lovely stuff. Ever so slightly oxidative and nutty but it also has some yellow fruit. Fresh, racy, slightly oxidative, mineral, almost tannic though it isn't an orange wine but there is some kind of strong grip here even if it's not from skin contact. Very moreish. Buy again? Oh yeah, the two Envínates I've now tried have both been exactly the style I love most.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

Their wines are pretty much excellent across the board.

Dale, thanks. Turns out I had the prior vintage of this.

2017 Envinate Benje Ycoden Daute Isora Listán Prieto
Light red. Cranberry, cumin, other spices, good minerality. Quite nice.

But my favorite Canary Island wine so far was this one:

2014 Suertes del Marqués Valle de la Orotava Medianías Viñas Viejas Red Blend
My WOTN. Premier cru level Burgundian in weight and texture, with higher than average acidity and riveting complexity. Picked up notes of green peppercorn, sumac, pomegranate, red plums and cactus pear. Exciting; best version of the mission grape I've ever tasted. No wonder the padres dragged this grape all over the planet.
