1. Gobelsburg GrunerVeltliner DAC: Kamptal Niederosterreich (12.5%; SkurnikWines; trocken; LN00574/20; http://www.Schloss-Gobelsburg.At)) SchlossGobelsburg/Gobelsburg 2019: Pale gold color; quite fragrant very floral/GV/gardenias some white pepper bit spicy/cardamon beautifully aromatic nose; quite tart/tangy bit metallic/mineral light GV/floral/gardenias/bit white pepper slight chalky flavor; long quite tart/tangy bit metallic/chalky/mineral light GV/floral/gardenias slight white pepper finish; quite a lovely fragrant GV nose but not quite delivers on the palate...yet...but likely will put on weight over the next yr; quite attractively priced at $17.00 (KK)

Kettmeir Muller-Thurgau DOC: AltoAdige-Sudtirol (12.5%; Imprtd: SM/Miami) Caldaro 2016: Med.light yellow color; very light floral/carnations/melony/Chard-like light earthy rather dull/simple nose; lightly tart bit watery light floral/carnations light earthy rather simple/dull/ordinary flavor; med.short light/grapey/watery light floral/carnations finish; very little M-T rather watery dull-as-dishwater (actually dishwater has much more character) white; way overpriced at $20.00 (KK)

Ferraris Clasic Dd'OCG: Ruche di Castagnole Monferrato (15%; GiulianaImprts/Denver; http://www.FerrarisAgricola.com) LucaFerraris/CastagnoleMonferrato 2019: Med.dark color; lovely very fragrant Ruche/floral/strawberry bit Vitalis/cheap hair oil bit dusty/OV/earthy slight pungent/tarry bit appley some complex lovely aromatic nose; lightly tart/tangy quite floral/Ruche/strawberry/rose petal slight tar/pungent some dusty/earthy/OV quite perfumed/bit hair oil flavor w/ light bitey tannins; very long strong floral/rose petal/strawberry/Ruche/hair oil bit dusty/OV finish w/ light brisk tannins; a very classic bright/exhuberent drinkable expression of Ruche at a great price. $16.50 (KK)

Qupe Syrah BienNacido HillsideEstate/SantaMariaVlly (EB; 13.5%) QupeWineC llrs/SantaMaria 2016: Very dark color; beautiful smokey/pencilly/Qupe Fr.oak strong blackberry/Syrah/spicy some roasted/Rhonish slight cold-climate/peppery rather complex nose; lightly tart/tangy strong blackberry/Syrah/blueberry/very spicy/bit licorice rather smokey/pencilly/Qupe old Fr.oak some Rhonish/roasted/smoked meats bit complex balanced/structured flavor w/ modest ripe tannins; very long/lingering lightly tart rich/lush/ripe strong blackberry/blueberry/Syrah/spicy bit Rhonish/roasted complex finish w/ modest tannins; very balanced & structured & needs 4-10 yrs; a classic BobLindquist BienNacido Syrah that will be a great one down the road; very fairly priced at $35.00 (KK)

1. The Qupe was made by BobLindquist afore he sold off the Qupe label.

2. Muller-Thurgau: M-T doesn't get a whole lot of respect because in Germany it is widely planted for heavily produced plonk. Actually, you can make a silk purse from a sow's ear w/ M-T. This was nothing but a cheap WalMart vinyl purse, though.

3. Ruche: A grape thought to be indigenous to the Piemonte from NE of Asti. There is some belief that it also has a Burgundy connection. This was one of the better Ruches I've had of late w/ quite modest tannins.
