A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. We had Sue down for a mid-afternoon lunch of beef filet and cheese fondue, so pulled a couple of Swiss wines from the archives. They both performed pretty much as I expected....worked well.

Switzerland is badly underrated as a wine power. This is probably because the best crus are eagerly consumed by Swiss wine lovers in spite of high prices, leaving very little for export. I have bought in Swiss Valais excellent wines, IMO world class, made from indigenous grapes like Petite Arvine (white) and Cornalin (red) and I have had very good Syrah, Gamay and Pinot Noir as well.

Chasselas (AKA Fendant) is said to rise to exceptional heights in the Vaud on the superb terraces overlooking Lake Geneva but I have never had one which convinces me of that. There are reports of world class Pinot Noir from Neuchâtel, Zurich and Graubünden made in tiny quantities and very expensive. Regrettably I have never had any.

On a Rhine River cruise in 2019 my favorite red wine was a Zurich region Pinot Noir enjoyed in Switzerland in the days following the cruise.
