WYN: Paolo Scavino Barolo Cannubi 2008

by Jay Labrador » Sun Jan 10, 2021 9:16 am

Lockdown Wine #79. Very dark, opaque purple, youthful. Very nice nose. Balsamic, floral, a bit of leather, herbs, and black pepper. Not a lot of fruit, though. Tannins are soft enough if you have it with food. Full-bodied, very sweet and ripe. Plum, blackberries, fig. A little wood. Classic tar and roses comes and goes. A bit of roast meat, but mostly all about the fruit. Good length; finishes dry. Very attractive now but will have no trouble aging and developing more complexity for a couple more years. Excellent.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Nice to see a 2008 rounding into form.
