_________
2. Lucchetti Dd'OC: LaCrima di Morro d'Alba (13.0%; Massanois Imprts/NY; Frmtd: SS; www.mariolucchetti.it) Mario Lucchetti/Morro d'Alba 2018: Very dark/near black color; beautiful boysenberry/black cherry cola/licorice fairly intense LeCrima light earthy/dusty/bit herbal slight chocolaty almost PasoRobles/jammy pretty classic LaC nose; bit soft very rich/lush intense black cherry cola/boysenberry/plummy/licorice/LaCrima/bit chocolaty/bit floral some earthy/dusty/OV flavor w/ light bitey tannins; very long/lingering intense black cherry cola/boysenberry/RCCola bit dusty/OV finish w/ light chewey tannins; a beautiful intense classic expression of LaCrima; this is how Mario would make LaCrima in PasoRobles if he could; great price at $nc (SC)/$15.00
_________
3. PattersonCllrs Roussanne LateHrvst WillardFarms/ElerdingVnyd/YakimaVlly (76% Roussanne/24% Viognier; RS: 22.3%; Brrl frmtd in 70% new Fr.oak; www.PattersonCellars.com; 11.8%) Woodinville/WA 2018: Med.dark gold color; very strong honeyed/honeycomb/passito some toasty/Fr.oak very fragrant floral/honeysuckle/Rouss beautiful aromatic nose; somewhat soft very intense honeyed/honeycomb intense Rouss/honeysuckle/floral passito-like quite sweet slight herbal/fresh hay beautiful flavor; very long/lingering soft very sweet intense Rouss/honeysuckle/honeyed/honeycomb finish; another great Patterson LateHrvst at a great price. $25.00/hlf (vSC)
______________ A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Foradori: This was a pretty impressive rendition of a PG/ramato w/ a very fine balance between VM character and PG fruit. Especially given the long fermentation on the skins. She uses JosePadilla Spanish Tinijas, which are regarded as about the best in the business.
_________
2. LaCrima: This is a classic red grape grown in LeMarche. They invariably are very good wines for the price. They also make a wine called Visciola which is made from LaCrima grapes and Visciola cherries as a dessert wine that can alswo be outstanding. This is a variety they should be planting all up&down the Coast of Calif. MickUnti made a LaCrima at one time (and it was a good one) but the vines were badly virus diseased & they had to pull them.
_________
3. Patterson: We've been buying the Patterson LH Rouss for some 4 yrs now. It's always an outstanding dessert wine. I think that perhaps Rouss makes a better dessert wine than Viognier or Semillon, with or w/o botrytis.
