WTN: Barsac Fly

2004 Château Climens Barsac Sémillon
Lighter in color and fresher, more lemon and pineapple than apricot, more honeysuckle than toffee, and less distinctly botrytissed. Of course, either way, these wines are spectacular. Proved all over again why Climens is my favorite from the Sauternes/Barsac region.

Is Climens always varietal semillon, or is this a special cuvee? Most estates in Sauternes-Barsac blend in some sauvignon blanc.

I think you meant that last reply for the condiment thread in FLDG.

It turns out that Chateau Climens is varietal semillon--the only estate in the region that doesn't use any sauvignon blanc. Berenice Lurton discusses that in this article.
